ZIPStream’s Castaway Canopy Adventure (ZCCA) is a fully guided, eco-zip line canopy adventure that is licensed to operate on the site of the St. Augustine Aquarium and Snorkel Adventure (SAA). And though ZCCA and SAA are separate companies with different owners, we are one attraction, bound by a mutual passion. The synergy between the St. Augustine Aquarium and the ZIPStream brand is very special because both organizations care deeply about the natural world and about introducing people to the living wonders around us. There is a critical link between caring for environmental components such as wetlands and the health of our oceans, and together we get to tell that story while also creating fun and challenging experiences for our guests.
As the owners of ZCCA we are extremely excited to bring a different and unique zip line experience to St. Augustine. When we decided to pursue the opportunity to put a ZIPStream project at the Aquarium we strove to craft an experience that was as different as possible from any other aerial adventure in the region. We wanted to compliment and expand opportunities for people rather than compete with what already existed. I am very proud of the result.
In keeping with the ocean theme of the Aquarium, the course is using a castaway motif with lots of netting, rope, thatch, and of course ZCCA’s mascot Johnny Castaway’s Treehouse. The extent of the theming will continue to expand as owners and staff dream up new ways to create the castaway atmosphere.
ZCCA was designed and built by The Adventure Guild, an industry leader and Professional Vendor Member with the Association for Challenge Course Technology. All guides are extensively trained and certified in accordance with industry standard ANSI/ACCT 03-2016 on all. For added security the course also employs a 100% tie-off belay system that ensures that patrons cannot accidentally (or intentionally) become disconnected from the life safety system.
